THE CASE FOR AN ARTICLE V CONVENTION OF THE STATES
The history of the United States of America lent itself—and lends itself today—to a spirit of rugged individualism, fierce independence, and a disposition toward limited government. That mindset is completely in line with our grassroots movement to call an Article V convention that can be utilized to permanently lock the federal government into the limited powers that the Founders intended for it—and no more.
The federal government has become oppressive and will not restrain itself. The Framers knew that a federal government that became tyrannical would never propose the proper kinds of amendments to restrain their own tyranny.
Article V of the U.S. Constitution allows states to call an Article V convention limited to proposing amendments that would impose: term limits, fiscal restraints, and limits on the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government.
The Framers of the Constitution unanimously adopted this amendment process in Article V of the Constitution, replete with multiple safeguards—making it the safest process in our entire system of governance.
